"Bear Valley Rescue: About BVR
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are new to the rescue scene, but hopefully make up for our inexperience with our enthusiam!
Bear Valley Rescue was founded in 2004, although we didn't register as a charity until January
of 2005. We have found wonderful homes for many amazing horses.
We are located in west-central Alberta, on 40 acres. If we can find homes for these animals, we
can go out and save more of them. It is really sad the number of good horses that end up being
slaughtered because no one wants them.
All our animals are wormed and vaccinated regularly. They are friendly, even if they haven't
been worked with much (it's surprising how long it takes to brush 50-odd horses!). We hope you
enjoy our site, and we would love to hear comments/feedback from you.
We are more than happy to accept any donations of good-quality hay. We are a registered charity,
and able to issue tax receipts for donations....

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Bear Valley Rescue: How You Can Help:
Bear Valley Rescue is a registered Canadian charity.
THANK YOU to all our donors! We aren't always able to thank you individually, but please be
assured your donations, no matter what amount, are greatly appreciated. Those giving through 'Canada Helps' as well,
even though we don't issue the tax receipt, we would like to acknowledge your gift here with heartfelt thanks.
Please consider making a one-time or monthly donation to help us look after the horses. Below is a form you
can print off (Microsoft Word Document) and distribute to your 'horsey' or 'animal-loving' friends to help
spread the word and to help us generate some badly needed funds. Currently our hay alone costs us approximately
$12,000 per year, not to mention the vet, grain, fencing and pasture costs! Thank goodness Mike's able to do
some of our farrier work! Also you may want to consider fostering or sponsoring one of our permanent residents.
We can keep you updated on their progress, send pictures, and, if you're close enough, you can come out any time
and visit with them! Unfortunately we're not set up to process donations by credit card, so if you'd like to
make a donation by credit card or to set up a monthly contribution please use the 'Canada Helps' button on the home page.

The projects we are currently raising funds for are:
Hay Fund - $12,000 per year
Sunchild Reserve Horses Fund - $4,000
Larosa Equine Treatment Facility Fund - $15,000
Foster Horses Support Fund - $5,000 per year
These figures are estimates based on budget figures only.
100% of ALL donations received goes directly to the rescue. Where a specific fund has not been allocated,
the donation will be applied to general operating expenses related specifically to the care of the horses
(of which there is no shortage!): vet fees, feed & supplements, farrier, etc.
Also, please check out the Fundraising page for other ways to contribute.
Lastly, we do appreciate all the kind emails and phone calls - it really helps to know that there are others
out there that care about these horses."
