Barn Name: Calli
www.heavencanwaitequinerescue.org/calli.html
Breed: Arab X
Height: approx 14hh (will measure)
Age: 12 y/o
Gender: Mare
Colour: Chestnut
Health: Appears to have allergies to ragweed (cough, runny nose, puffy/itchy eyes), Previous owner said she does well on ZEV. Healthy Otherwise
Lameness: None - although she did have an old crack in her front right hoof that was repaired, it went right up to her coronet band and she also has an old scar on her hind right leg that causes her to be a little bit stiff in the winter)
Vices: None Known
Personality: Friendly. Easy to Catch, Lead, Groom, Tie, Trim, Trailer, etc. Good with other horses, ponies and donkeys! Low end of pecking order.
History/Training: Her previous owners originally bought her from a place where she was used as a Camp/Lesson/Trail Pony, she was in rough shape. they brought her home and gave her lots of TLC (that was 4 years ago). Their daughter (now 11) has enjoyed riding her over the past few years, doing ringwork, jumping and trails. She is quick at the canter and can spook easily so not suitable for a beginner. she needs someone to remind her to lower her head when she leads off for a canter. Calli has a very soft mouth and sides and so we have only ever used a snaffle, and soft legs, she moves off your leg extremely well. UPDATE: my volunteer (125lbs) tried to ride her and she wanted nothing to do with even letting her get on, I am going to chat with her previous owners and I will update you shortly. Perhaps Calli perfers a lighter rider. UPDATE : her previous owner said calli has never misbehaved like that and that she was always reliable and quiet to ride, and has no issues with mounting. so we will try again. I have attached some riding photos below forwarded to me by her previous owners.
Future/Suitability: Light Pleasure Riding, Trails, Companion, Pet
